For the system to report to our UL Central Station it must have a telephone number and account number as well as a report code programmed for the event you are trying to communicate. This information is contained in the email with the link to this web page and contains four key pieces of information:
- Receiver Number - This number is used to identify to the Central
Station which receiver you are dialing into when calling to put the system on "test". It is NOT programmed into the panel.
- Account Number - This is a four digit (hex) value that identifies
your specific account information at the Central Station
- Receiver Telephone Number (Primary) - This is the toll-free
telephone number that your panel will dial during an alarm event (intrusion, power failure, panic, etc.). This is the telephone number it will try first.
- Receiver Telephone Number (Secondary) - This is the toll-free
telephone number that your panel will dial during an alarm event (intrusion, power failure, panic, etc.). This is the telephone number it will try if the primary number is busy, out of service, etc.
Step 1: Program report codes The system must have a report code programmed to enable each report. When using Ademco Contact ID format (recommended) the report is enabled by a report code with a first digit that is not 00.
Enter the report code using the *56 Zone Programming Menu. Report codes are entered in a hexadecimal format. In other words, each “digit” is two key-strokes. Using a two-line alphanumeric keypad such as the 6160 you may see a report code screen such as: "01 00 10". In this case, "01" is your first digit (1), "00" is the second digit (0), and "10" is the combination (1 for first, 0 for second). Each zone that you want to report to the Central Station MUST have a non-zero report code programmed! ·
Step 2: Report format Select Ademco 4-Digit Contact ID by entering "7" in memory location *48
Enter "0" at memory location *49 to select backup reporting. Your panel will attempt to contact the Central Station receiver via the primary telephone number eight times. If unsuccessful eight additional attempts will be made via the secondary telephone number.
Step 3: Account Information Enter the Central Station information contained in your email at the following memory locations:
*41 = Primary telephone number
*42 = Secondary telephone number
*43 = Account number (primary)
See Section 6, System Communication and Operation, in your Vista-20P installation manual for details regarding Ademco Contact ID reporting.

Central Station Testing
After programming your panel for Central Station reporting you must test the communication. THIS IS IMPORTANT!
Step 1: Call the Central Station (800-633-2677) and ask the Operator to put your account "on test". Supply the Receiver and Account number you received earlier. They will verify the name on the account (your last name or company name) and ask for your "password". This is used to verify your identity before taking any live account off-line for testing. The Operator will also ask for the duration of testing. At the end of this period the account will automatically go back "on-line". Be sure you are NOT testing Panic alarms, etc. when the account is back on-line (unless actually dispatching the police is part of your test!).
Step 2: Arm the system and trip a zone. Pick up a telephone on the same line as the alarm panel. Insure that the extension goes "dead" when the alarm trips/reports (i.e. no dial tone, etc.). At the end of the transmission (fifteen seconds total) the extension should once again work. The Line Seizure mode is used to prevent an intruder from picking up an internal extension in your home/business and preventing the panel from dialing out to the Central Station. At the end of the report the internal extensions are re-enabled allowing you to answer the telephone when the Central Station calls to verify an alarm. As long as no "reporting delay" was programmed (*50) you can disarm the system and silence the alarm as soon as the siren sounds. If a delay was selected then the siren must sound at least as long as this delay (ex. 30 seconds).
Step 3: Rearm the system and repeat for all zones and keypad panics programmed (Fire, Duress, Panic).
Step 4: Call the Central Station (800-633-2677) and ask for "test results". Again give the Operator your Receiver and Account Number. The Operator will read off all codes received during this testing period. The codes should match the Ademco Contact ID format shown on page 6-3 in the Installation manual if testing is successful.
Step 5: Put the account back On-Line. Either call the Central Station (800-633-2677) and ask to take your account "off test" or allow the account to automatically go live when the test duration is exceeded.
We STRONGLY recommend you test your alarm system monthly!
